Hi, I’m Alicia – the hands behind Tatting Moments.

I loved knitting long before I ever touched a shuttle. As a teenager, I’d flip through craft magazines for hours, and every so often a piece of lace would stop me completely. Tatting looked like magic. Also completely out of my reach.

In the early 2000s I found a step-by-step tatting tutorial in a magazine called “Anna“. With real effort, I tracked down the one small shop – in a city of half a million people – that sold tatting shuttles and the right thread. I was sure I was ready.

I wasn’t. The instructions had words, not just pictures, but without video I couldn’t make sense of them. The shuttles went into a drawer, tangled with thread and a fair amount of frustration. They stayed there for years.

Then a colleague came to work wearing the most beautiful tatted earrings I’d ever seen. At lunch the next day, she showed me how to tie my first double knot. That was 2008 – the real beginning, years after the false start.

Tatting has been part of my life ever since. It makes me slow down. It gives me real satisfaction – projects that are entirely mine, from the first idea to the last, careful, handmade detail. And finally: tatting has brought me wonderful people. Some of them, met through online forums, are still close friends today.

Tatting Moments is where I pass this on. My tutorials are simple and visual – short videos, clear steps, minimal talking – because I know exactly what it’s like to stare at a diagram and feel completely lost.

I’m originally from Poland. Western Australia is my home now. Building this platform has been part of settling in here too – a new language, a new place, and a craft almost nobody around me had heard of; sharing it has become my way of giving back to the community that welcomed me.
