Hi, I’m Alicia — the hands behind Tatting Moments.
My story with tatting started long before I ever tied my first knot. As a child, I loved knitting and spent hours flipping through craft magazines. Every now and then, I’d stumble upon a delicate lace pattern that instantly caught my heart. But back then, tatting felt like a mystery — something beautiful, yet out of reach.
In the early 2000s, I found a step-by-step shuttle tatting tutorial in a magazine called Anna. I bought the shuttles, hunted down the right thread — which, in a city of half a million people, only one tiny shop carried — and thought I was ready to go. But I wasn’t. The picture-only instructions were impossible to follow. My shuttles ended up in a drawer, tangled with thread and frustration.
Years later, everything changed. A colleague came to work wearing the most beautiful tatted earrings I’d ever seen. At lunch the next day, she showed me how to make my very first double knot. That was 2008 — the moment it all began.
From there, tatting became a part of my life. It gives me calm in a busy world, a sense of purpose, and the quiet joy of creating something delicate and lasting. It has also brought me friendships and community — I still cherish the people I met on early craft forums, many of whom I call friends to this day.
Through Tatting Moments, I want to share this beautiful art form with you. Whether you’ve never heard of tatting, are just beginning, or have loved it for years, this is a space where you can learn, explore, and be inspired. My tutorials are simple and language-friendly, using short videos and visual guides — because I know what it feels like to struggle at the start.
I’m originally from Poland and now call Western Australia home. Building this platform has been part of my journey of finding my place in a new country — learning its language and culture, making new friends, and sharing a craft that’s still little known here. In a way, it’s my way of giving something back to the community that welcomed me.
So, welcome.
Pick up your shuttle, take a deep breath, and let’s create something beautiful.
